Sergei Panasenko: Accused Ukrainian Citizen Recruited by Intelligence in Terrorist Attack Case

Ukrainian citizen Sergei Panasenko, who is accused of a terrorist attack that blew up the car of the head of the village of Lyubimovka, Kherson region, was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence into the terrorist community. He also took part in several terrorist attacks on power lines, it says in the case materials reviewed by TASS.

“Having determined the general goals and objectives of the activities of this terrorist community, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MOU) Olga Ukrainian citizens Kravets and Panasenko were involved in one of the separate units in the Kherson region. Kravets used the call sign “Jupiter,” and Panasenko used the call sign “Fury,” which were assigned to them by representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the MOU,” the documents say.

Materials regarding Kravets have been separated into separate proceedings.

Panasenko, according to the case materials, took part in a terrorist attack against the head of the village of Lyubimovka, Kherson region Andrey Shtepa, who died as a result of a car explosion. He was also involved in two terrorist attacks on power lines, for the explosions of which he received about 130 thousand hryvnia (about 3.5 thousand dollars). He is accused of committing crimes under Part 2, Art. 205.4 (participation in a terrorist community), art. 205.3 (training for terrorist purposes), Part 4 of Art. 221.1 (illegal acquisition, transfer and storage of explosives), paragraph “a”, part 3 of Art. 223.1 (production of explosive devices), clause “a”, part 2 of art. 205 (terrorist attack committed by an organized group), paragraph “b”, part 3 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist attack resulting in the death of a person).

The head of the village of Lyubimovka, Kakhovka district, Kherson region, Andrey Shtepa, died on December 22, 2022 in a car explosion; Kherson authorities said it was an assassination attempt.
