Sergas opens vaccination to those under 20 years of age by surprise or mistake

New change in immunization strategy in Galicia. If in the morning the president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, announced the advance of the vaccination start date for the under 30 years old, in the afternoon a surprise was discovered new unannounced measure.

The system autocita de la Xunta, open from July 5 for Erasmus students of the next academic year; it allowed access to the general population.

The news ran through WhatsApp groups after 8 pm, using the same procedure that was announced for the autocita. However, young people who tried would quickly realize a clue: It was only allowed for the population under 20 years of age.

It is unknown if this error is due to a computer failure or has been caused, but there are hundreds of Galician adolescents who have confirmed their appointment to get vaccinated next week, most starting July 27. The saturation caused the application will work with problems until late at night.

The number of free spaces to be vaccinated, much higher than the 2,000 weekly assigned to self-appointment; it sold out quickly for the remainder of July. Now it remains to be seen how Sergas will face this incident and if it will compromise the appointments that were already scheduled.
