LCIUDAD DE MXICO (apro) .- The head of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), Delfina Gmez, met with representatives of groups of illustrators who in recent days expressed their disagreement with the refusal to allocate a budget for the redesign of books of free text.
The meeting occurred because artists demanded a meeting with the head of the SEP and with the official responsible for the project to redesign textbooks, the general director of Educational Materials, Marx Arriaga, after he launched a call for the renovation, in the one that contemplated as remuneration a certificate and the book in which the participants had collaborated.
In a statement, the SEP reported that the meeting was attended by personnel from the Undersecretariat of Basic Education and the General Directorate of Educational Materials, without specifying whether the headlines, Martha Velada Hernndez Moreno, and Arriaga himself participated, as well as the illustrators and artists Octavio Jimnez Quiroz, Norma Ascencio, Guillermo Gante and Luis Pelez Goicochea.
According to the document, the illustrators expressed their willingness to continue with this process, committed to the girls, boys and adolescents.
However, in the final part he highlighted that among the agreements reached is the creation of a directory of illustrators (and) participate in a coordinated manner for the design of the following calls for LTGs.
According to the agency, the Undersecretary of Basic Education maintained that the intention of integrating the different artists and creators into this collaborative effort lies in the search for a different country, which in its public policies conceives education with people, for and for people.
According to the statement, the officials argued that the SEP under no circumstances () intends to undermine professionally or professionally those who participate in this process through which it is intended to renew the contents of 18 textbooks within a period of 10 weeks, since The call started in February, and until its closing on May 31.
Supposedly it was explained to the creators that the production of textbooks and educational materials cannot be stopped, since it is essential to achieve a common objective: the development of girls, boys and adolescents in the National Educational System.
At the meeting, the Directorate of Educational Materials of the SEP commented that the calls for the redesign of the LTG were opened to all people who wanted to participate in this type of work, emphasizing the excellent work of teachers in the country.
The text specifies: The collective of illustrators pointed out the advantages of this new work plan in the design of the Free Textbooks, although it was agreed with the illustrators to participate in a coordinated manner for the design of the following calls for the LTG.
He added that, after agreeing to create a directory of illustrators, both parties assumed that the procedure for developing their content and design improved, since now horizontal spaces for collaboration are being proposed and adopted to recognize the skills and talent that Mexico possesses in its field. magisterium and in the hands of illustrators from all corners of the country.
The speed with which the textbooks are to be prepared is considered by the executive director of the Network for the Rights of the Child in Mexico (Redim), Juan Martn Prez Garca, as a violation of the human rights of at least 26 million infants to whom the educational materials will be delivered.
Interviewed by Process, Prez García considers that the decision not to allocate a budget for the preparation of textbooks is an act of discrimination, in addition to violating the eighth paragraph of article four of the Constitution, which considers that in all its decisions the State must consider the higher interest of childhood.
