Thiruvananthapuram> Senior Congress leader Vakkam Purushothaman (96) passed away. He was a Governor, Minister, MP and Legislative Assembly Speaker. He was resting for a long time due to physical ailments. He died at his residence in Kumarapuram. He was the governor of the states of Mizoram and Tripura. He reached the assembly from Atingal constituency five times. He won from Alappuzha Constituency 2 times to the Lok Sabha. He was a three-time state minister. He was the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly twice. He has also worked as DCC president, Thiruvananthapuram general secretary and vice president of KPCC.
