The most common critical praise for the new version of The Witcher 3 mentions that the brings the next generation “feels like another game”. The analysis of The Attack of the Fanboyfor example, it claims that the improvements have been implemented “without fail”.

The updated edition takes what made the 2015 version so beloved and brings it into the new generation with such care that it feels like a different game while retaining the backbone of the original. The improvements work flawlessly and I can see myself putting in another 100 or more hours in this universe now that it can be compared to other next-gen games.

Already the lowest (but still very high) score, del Push Square (90), also praises the improvements implemented, but states that the gameplay “hasn’t aged well”.

More than seven years after its original release, The Witcher 3 is still a masterpiece. In his writing of character and dialogue, he has not yet been surpassed, while his ability to tell so many captivating stories is still very impressive. While some aspects of its gameplay haven’t aged very well, there’s no doubt that the Complete Edition is the best version of a truly extraordinary open world adventure.
