Sectur Oaxaca highlights air connectivity with six destinations in Mexico and four international destinations

Oaxaca de Juárez.— Oaxaca maintains and increases air connectivity with Mexico and the world, through connectivity with six national and four international destinations, highlighted the State Government’s Secretary of Tourism.

The agency revealed that the entity is currently connected at the national level with Mexico City, Tijuana, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Mérida and Cancun; as well as with four international destinations: Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles and Calgary via charter; in addition to two local destinations, which are Huatulco and Puerto Escondido.

He also pointed out that in a record of the entity’s air activity, from December 28, 2020 to January 3, 2021, there are 25 active routes to local, national and international destinations, with 192 weekly frequencies, through nine different airlines.

He specified that the state capital has 13 active routes: three international to destinations such as Los Angeles (Volaris), Dallas Forth Worth (American Airlines) and Houston (United Airlines); eight nationals to Mexico City, Tijuana, Guadalajara, Mérida and Cancun through Volaris, by Aeroméxico to Mexico City, as well as by Viva Aerobús to the country’s capital and Monterrey; and two locations through Aerotucán to Huatulco and Puerto Escondido.

Meanwhile, Bahías de Huatulco has two international routes: Dallas-Fort Worth with the American Airlines airline and the route to Calgary through WestJet (charter); in addition to five national routes that connect the destination of the Costa region with Mexico City through Volaris, Aeroméxico, Viva Aerobús and Magnicharters; and with Tijuana through Volaris.

Sectur Oaxaca also pointed out that Puerto Escondido’s air connectivity is active with four national routes: with Mexico City it is connected through Aeromar, Volaris and Viva Aerobús, and with Guadalajara through the Volaris airline; Ciudad Ixtepec, in the Isthmus region, has a route to Mexico City through Aeromar.

It should be noted that some of these international routes were reactivated after the confinement stage, such as Dallas Fort Worth – Oaxaca, Dallas Fort Worth – Huatulco and Los Angeles – Oaxaca, with the American Airlines and Volaris airlines; Houston – Oaxaca with United Airlines; Calgary – Huatulco through WestJet (charter) and Chicago – Huatulco with Volaris, which operated temporarily. However, in June 2021 the Chicago – Oaxaca flight will be received through the same airline.

Likewise, the national routes resumed operations: Guadalajara – Oaxaca, Tijuana – Huatulco and Mérida – Oaxaca through Volaris; the Mexico – Oaxaca route by Viva Aerobús; and on January 29 of this year the new Mexico – Puerto Escondido route will be received by Aeroméxico.

During the months of confinement, the agency pointed out, the state of Oaxaca maintained air connectivity with Mexico City, which allowed different users to mobilize for essential activities; and in May 2020 the airline Aeromar opened two temporary local routes: Oaxaca – Puerto Escondido and Oaxaca – Ixtepec, which ended operations on July 13 of the previous year.

Likewise, in 2020 new domestic flights emerged, such as the Tuxtla Gutiérrez – Oaxaca route operated by Aeromar as of March 2, which is currently not in operation due to the Covid-19 contingency; and last December 11 the flight Cancun – Oaxaca from Volaris was received.
