Secret protocols: experts warn of “meltdown of the health system”

As the minutes show, there were considerations to bring back former doctors from the pension and to send text messages to all citizens as a government, writes the Small newspaper.

In view of the dramatic situation in Italian, French and Spanish hospitals, an expert also raised the sensitive question at a meeting on March 9 whether in Austria, in an emergency, not all patients should be attached to ventilators. Specifically, it was discussed whether devices should be kept free for younger corona patients and should no longer be given to older, seriously ill patients.

A question that was ultimately not pursued, since fortunately the situation in Austria’s intensive care units had not deteriorated so dramatically. The yardstick of such a decision should, however, “not be the lack of resources, but exclusively medical reasons”, as was stated.

“Who walks the dog?”

Details of the Ischgl hotspot are not given in the minutes, but there are indications that the government was contacted several times in the cause from abroad. Other discussion points included protective measures, including protective clothing and masks, and the question of when and according to which criteria schools or concert halls should be closed. The effects of the measures, such as loneliness or the question of who should take the dog for a walk should the owner be quarantined, were also discussed.
