Sculpture of ‘Pepe’ Castro unveiled at the end of the La Paz-Valledupar road

This Thursday afternoon, the Valledupar Mayor’s Office unveiled a sculpture of former Valledupar mayor José Guillermo ‘Pepe’ Castro in a property at the end of the La Paz-Valledupar road, near the roundabout of the city’s Transportation Terminal.

The bust is part of the Welcome Park, according to the administration, to “receive visitors from the municipalities of the metropolitan area” of the capital of Cesar.

The mayor of Valledupar, Mello Castro, assured that it is a tribute that as president and grandson of the former governor of Cesar pays him.

“My grandfather Pepe Castro, more than 30 years ago, saw works of progress like these,” Castro said about the highway built by the national government.

According to the Ministry of Works, the value of the initial contract for the construction of the park is $434,375,122.

The work contemplates platforms, cobblestones, gardens, grass on a mat, an interactive metallic motto with the name of the city and other elements.
