Astleigh and Rowan got the shock of their lives in the first episode when presenter Carlo Boszhard attacked them with the golden envelope. Astrid and Sander are already one step further and everyone at Slot Zeist holds their breath when bride Astrid makes her entrance. It even makes Sander cry right away. However, a big smile soon appears as the two hug each other and confess how nervous they are. “Two nervous sufferers together”, they joke.

Astrid’s mother doesn’t keep it dry either – just like the experts of the program, who are in the room. “Be careful with her, won’t you”, she says sternly to Sander when she gives her daughter away. Once the ceremony is over, she wants to thank the experts. And that’s the first time in the program’s history. “Thank you for everything, for the people… who are kind to my daughter”, she says, after which she falls into Carlo’s arms. “It’s my daughter and I’m so happy. (…) I don’t know what to say anymore, it’s good. I hope they are very happy.”
Astrid and Sander still have to get used to their new title. “I didn’t expect to get married at my age, 62,” says the groom. “It is actually a very strange idea, but a very special idea. Very special, but very beautiful.”

Rowan and Astleigh are not that far yet, but they have already got used to the idea that they will soon be giving the yes to a stranger. That day comes sooner than expected: in the second episode of the season, the expectant see each other for the first time. “Maybe this door is the gateway to a whole new phase in my life,” said the bride.
The third couple, Arjan and Maurice, also seem to match perfectly. Florist Arjan has seen a lot of the world and is now ready to settle down. “I’m actually just looking for a buddy in a relationship. That you can just acknowledge each other for the fact that you want to be together. I think that would be a lot of fun to experience again. I don’t need any interpretation, I’m fine. But together you are much nicer and better.”

Arjan is linked to 46-year-old Maurice from Rotterdam, who has been alone again for a year and has learned a lot from his previous relationships. “I have a very nice life and I do very nice things, but what I really really want is to do it with someone, with a partner,” he says. “Because I am of the opinion: how nice is it to do the things you like to do together, that you can share that.”
