SCM, requested to intervene in a controversial dispute: the relocation of the city of Covasna to the Szekler Fair Court is required – News by sources

More than 3,000 signatures in support of a petition to the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), requesting the relocation of Covasna to the Târgu Secuiesc Court, have been collected by local authorities, who intend to continue the campaign until the end of this month, Agerpres said.

The mayor of Covasna resort, Gyero Jozsef, specified that, through this petition, the signatories request the modification of Decision no. 102 / 10.06.2021, by which the city of Covasna was moved from the constituency of the Târgu Secuiesc Court to that of the Întorsura Buzăului Court, and the restoration of the previous situation, respectively the return of the city to the territorial competence of the Târgu Secuiesc Court.

Gyero Jozsef mentioned that this decision, which entered into force at the end of June, was taken without consulting the local authorities and is in “flagrant contradiction with the legitimate interests” of the city’s inhabitants, but also of the neighboring localities, Zagon, Brateş, Comandău and Zăbala. .

Arguments put forward

Among the arguments invoked for returning to the initial situation are the greater distance between Covasna and Întorsura Buzăului, the lack of public transport on this route, the higher costs, and the fact that most Hungarian citizens in the county do not know Romanian very well. and can be more easily assisted at the Court in Târgu Secuiesc.

“The 3,000 signatures were collected from Covasna and Zagon localities, but in this campaign the inhabitants of Brateş, Comandău and Zăbala will also be attracted because, by ricochet, they will also be affected by this decision regarding certain notarial procedures ( …) I sent a letter of protest on behalf of the City Hall to the SCM, we are going to send one on behalf of the Local Council and then another one on behalf of the local community. (…) 3,000 signatures that I collected until now it is a fairly large number, but we want to continue collecting signatures for another week or two, in order to gather as many as possible to support the request to return to the original situation, “Gyero Jozsef told AGERPRES on Monday.

Why did the SCM make this decision

The SCM decision shows that the decision was taken in accordance with the workload of the courts and the number of files in progress, according to statistical data, the Târgu Secuiesc Court being more requested than the one in Întorsura Buzăului.
