Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The bowels of the Earth are said to hide the remains of a mysterious planet. Scientists believe that the Earth’s core contains two large structures of Planet Theia.

These chunks are known as low-shear velocity provinces (LLSVPs). One section is under western Africa and the other is in the Pacific, each 1,000 kilometers thick and spanning several thousand kilometers.

“At least this crazy idea is possible,” said Qian Yuan, a geodynamics PhD student at Arizona State University, quoted from the report IFL Science last 2021, Sunday (9/7/2023).

This has already been discussed before. However, Qian’s idea of combining multiple pieces of evidence into a coherent scenario, Theia merged with Earth and its essence merged into one.

In the researchers’ simulations, Theia’s mantle is slightly denser than Earth’s. It is likely that most have survived.

In addition, the simulations also show that the rock is 1.5 to 3.5% denser than Earth. Previous studies did mention that LLSVP objects have this size.

Simulations also show Theia’s size may be larger than previously thought. Even said the size is similar to Earth.

Previously the planet was estimated to be the size of Mars. LLSVP is also rumored to have a mass six times greater than that of the Moon.

For your information, Theia is believed to have collided with the primordial Earth. The result of the collision to produce the Moon.
