Scientists have found diamonds on the surface of Mercury

The thing is, Mercury’s crust is mostly composed of graphite, a pure form of carbon that can turn into diamonds after asteroid impacts. And judging by the huge number of craters, the planet has been a target for meteorites and comets for many years.

Mercury is closest to the Sun planet. As recent studies have shown, its surface can be studded with diamonds.

This publication reports Forbes.

For the first time, the results of the new study were presented back in mid-March at a conference on lunar and planetary sciences. According to experts, there are 16 quadrillion tons of diamonds on the surface of Mercury.

Scientists have stated that the planet’s crust is composed of graphite. This element can transform into diamonds after an asteroid impact. The craters that dot Mercury’s surface indicate that the planet has been hit by an asteroid numerous times.

It is assumed that diamonds are large stones covered with a thick layer of graphite.

Previously, our site wrote that Scientists have figured out the origin of a mysterious signal from our galaxy. A signal called GLEAM-X J162759.5-523504.3 is most likely coming from a white dwarf radio pulsar, according to new research by astrophysicist Jonathan Katz of Washington University in St. Louis.

In addition, the editors of the Cursor reported that scientists have shown a beam of antimatter with a length of 60 trillion kilometers.

We also recall that Scientists have shown the remnants of the supernova Cassiopeia A.
