Before the vaccine was actually used en masse, University of California San Francisco scientists provided a temporary solution. It comes in the form of an inhaler or nasal spray, which releases nanobodies that are claimed to help prevent airborne viruses such as the coronavirus from infecting cells. Ubergizmo.
Nanobodies are synthetic versions of nanobodies from animals such as llamas and camels, which the researchers found that these nanobodies have the ability to attach to spike proteins found in the corona virus and neutralize them.

These nanobodies, dubbed AeroNabs, are recommended for once-daily use where they appear to offer protection until the vaccine arrives. This means that it is more of a temporary solution and acts as an alternative to other protective measures such as wearing face shields or masks.
It should be noted that these technologies need to undergo clinical trials and resolve various regulatory hurdles before entering the market. So, wearing masks and practicing social distancing still needs to be done in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic like today.
