In a recent study by Daikin Industries Ltd. in collaboration with the University of Tokyo and the Okayama University of Science, the effectiveness of Daikin’s patented “Flash Streamer” technology (www.daikin.de) scientifically investigated for air purification. The study of the Department of Biomedical Science of the University of Tokyo and the Department of Microbiology of the Okayama University of Science confirms the effectiveness of the “Flash Streamer” technology, which after three hours of irradiation more than 99.9% of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 ) has successfully inactivated. After just one hour of irradiation, 93.65% of the coronaviruses could be inactivated.
The research team carried out tests in a test environment in which coronaviruses (SARS-CoV-2) were exposed to the electrons of the “Flash Streamer” technology for different lengths of time. The test results described here refer exclusively to the effectiveness of the “Flash Streamer” technology in the scientific tests carried out. Daikin products equipped with “Flash Streamer” technology may affect the actual usage environment differently.

Additional air purification
The “Flash Streamer” technology developed by Daikin in 2004 carries out the oxidative decomposition of pollutants. The streamer discharge is a kind of plasma discharge with an air purification technology that stably generates high-speed electrons. Its capacity for oxidative decomposition is much higher than that of conventional plasma discharge (glow discharge). In addition, high-speed electrons, in combination with air components, have strong oxidative properties, which means that indoor odors, bacteria and air pollutants such as formaldehyde are continuously removed.
This technology is highly effective and suitable for use in individual or open-plan offices. The “Flash Streamer” technology is installed as standard in many Daikin air conditioning units, such as the “Stylish” wall-mounted unit or the new “Perfera” floor standing unit. The new “Daikin MCK55W” air cleaner is also equipped with the “Flash Streamer” technology in addition to the HEPA filter technology.
