School is more important than motorbikes. König will remain in the MS only if he returns to his studies

Czech motorcycle racer Oliver König’s name is included in the preliminary start list of the World Superbike Championship, but his manager makes participation conditional on his return to school.

His manager Miloš Čihák is now deciding whether the 20-year-old racer will keep his place among the superbike elite. It is he who is negotiating terms with the Spanish team Orelac Racing, in whose colors König raced last year.

“We are currently finalizing everything, but I am reluctant to take this step yet. Oliver forgot to tell me that he didn’t go to college last year. I gave him an ultimatum – he either fixes it or he just won’t go this year,” he explained Miloš Čihák, head of the Movisio Racing team.

König played his first full season in the World Cup last year. As a rookie, he claimed three points and finished all the main races. It is clear that he would like to stay in the superbikes.

“There was also interest in Oliver from other teams. It’s unbelievable to me that he didn’t make mistakes on a liter bike during that difficult year. And if the rider doesn’t fall, he definitely has the potential to accelerate, which managers from other stables are also aware of,” he said A stalker at the address of a Prague rider.

Signing a contract with the Orelac Racing team is close, but first König has to settle his study obligations.

“Oliver pissed me off a lot because he didn’t tell me that he hadn’t gone to college since June. At the same time, we clearly agreed that he can’t let up on this and that studying is also very important for his future and employment. When I found out, I scolded him in such a way that it had the parameters of a horror film by Alfred Hitchcock,” described Čihák.

Therefore, the young man received a clear ultimatum from him: either arrange to study at a university as soon as possible, or not to count on his support this year. “That’s my main condition, over which no train, let alone a liter motorbike, can pass. As far as I have news, Oliver is active in it and his future should be clear next week,” added Čihák, who supports talented competitors.
