“Schneider Electric Begins Construction of 20,000 m2 Factory Extension in Riga”

The international energy management company “Schneider Electric” has started building an extension to the existing factory in Riga, thus expanding its size twice. The area of ​​the new extension will be 20,000 m2, and it is planned to be completed already at the end of this year.

Along with the expansion, the Riga plant of “Schneider Electric” aims to become the largest producer of “Schneider Electric” electronic products in Europe, continuing to produce increasingly sophisticated electronic products.

On April 25, a ceremonial laying of the foundation stone and time capsule took place in the foundations of the new extension at Krustpils street 35A, Riga. According to the representatives of the company, the expansion of the new factory is currently fully financed by the parent company of “Schneider Electric”, trying to attract funding from European funds.

Pēteris Zavadskis, the manager of the Riga production plant of Schneider Electric, says that with the expansion of the plant, it is also planned to double the existing production capacity. “Currently, the Riga factory has already grown into an important industry player in the entire region. Since the demand for electrical equipment is only growing, every year the company grows and expands its product range. Last year, our turnover increased by 30%, reaching 112 million euros, but this year an even 65% increase is planned, reaching 186 million euros,” says P. Zavadskis.

Currently, the factory is actively attracting new specialists to its team, and the total number of employees already reaches 450. Also in the future, the Riga factory will produce electronic products of various complexity on a larger scale, such as production automation and building management solutions, electric car charging stations, as well as various equipment for lighting control and building fire protection.

The ceremonial laying of the foundation stone was also attended by the vice president of production and supply of Schneider Electric in Europe, Mourad Tamoud, and representatives from LIAA, LETERA and Riga municipality.

SIA “Schneider Electric Latvija” was registered in 1995, the share capital of the company is 1,892,419 euros. In 2021, the company worked with a turnover of 11.2 million euros, which is 9.1% more than the year before, while the company’s profit increased several times, reaching 338,500 euros.

“Schneider Electric Latvija” is 100% owned by the Danish company “Schneider Nordic Baltic”.
