Saxon mayor fights against vaccination fatigue: Will there soon be money for vaccinations here?

By Fabian Windrich

Aue-Bad Schlema – To stop vaccination fatigue, “lures” are often used. Last Thursday and Friday there was a free bratwurst with every vaccination in Aue-Bad Schlema. Indeed Lord Mayor Heinrich Kohl (64, CDU) wants to add one more thing: If he has his way, there could soon be money for vaccinations.

The CDU politician suggests this offer for all employees in the Auer Rathaus. A whopping 75 euros should be given as a vaccination bonus. “Perhaps this way it is possible to convince one or the other”, Kohl argued to the “Free press“.

The reason for the money campaign: There are still too many unvaccinated people in the Auer Rathaus. The mayor does not have exact figures, but he assumes that the vaccination rate is not higher than the average in the Ore Mountains – currently 38.7 percent fully vaccinated.

Whether a vaccination bonus comes or not, should be decided according to the OB in the upcoming city council meeting in September. By the way: If the vaccination bonus comes, town hall employees who have already been vaccinated should also receive it.

Kohl thinks little of a general compulsory vaccination. That is difficult to implement legally. However, the CDU politician does not want to rule out the possibility that a passive vaccination obligation will be introduced at a later point in time, if there is also a “dead vaccine”.

Means: Anyone who is not vaccinated and who becomes ill with Corona through their own fault will not receive any wages for the failure!

Stop the madness of gifts and premiums!

Comment from Fabian Windrich

A sausage, football tickets or money for vaccinations – no, thanks! Anyone who gets vaccinated against Corona should do so out of their own conviction. It is right and good that many get vaccinated, protect themselves and others from a possible severe course.

But: This should remain a separate decision that cannot be influenced! Those who do not get vaccinated have to live with the consequences – including being excluded from certain areas in the event of a higher infection rate. It is the decision of each individual that should not be influenced by a bratwurst or money gifts.

With the madness of gifts and premiums, we are treated like children who are incredibly looking forward to birthday or Christmas presents. Please stop it!
