For the Catholic Church, these are not good numbers. The number of its members is declining, there is a lack of pastors, and financial resources are dwindling. This development does not stop at the Diocese of Würzburg. After the diocese separated from some of the educational institutions last year to consolidate its budget, it is now to go one step further. Buildings that have been an integral part of everyday life and in almost every village for centuries are being put to the test: the churches. The diocese is currently categorizing all churches, vicarages and parish homes.
