Saudi prepared to amend regulations to attract foreign educational institutions Saudi is preparing to amend regulations to attract foreign educational institutions

Jubail: Saudi Arabia is about to amend the rules to attract the world’s best educational institutions to the country. Discussions for the legislation are in progress under the leadership of the Private University Education Agency under the Ministry of Education and the Executive Wing of the Private University Education Regulations. This is to attract leading foreign companies and increase foreign investment opportunities. It is believed that this will lead to increased participation of the private sector and global competitiveness by improving university education.

According to the latest statistics released by the ministry, the total number of students studying in 15 universities and 42 private colleges in the country is 86,000. It also includes nine non-profit universities. The Private University Education Agency has identified the most significant challenges facing private institutions in investing within the country.

Several meetings have already been held with relevant authorities including the Ministry of Investment, Ministry of Commerce, Modon Authority, Education and Training Evaluation Commission and Public Investment and Privatization Department of the Ministry of Education.

It is expected that due to the amendment in the statute, it will be possible to study the investment opportunities available in university education and the possibility of marketing abroad and to solve the difficulties and challenges faced by the investors. The new education reforms are part of the ‘Vision 2030’ goals.
