Palestinian leaders including President Mahmoud Abbas described the UAE’s decision to normalize relations with Israel as a “stabbing behind the Palestinian people”.

Abbas later retracted his statement and barred Palestinian officials from making offensive remarks about other Arab leaders, following a request from Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for Arab States in the Gulf (GCC) Nayef al-Hajraf to apologize.

According to Prince Bandar, the reaction of Hamas in Gaza and the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank reflects their broader failure. (Read: Israel Wishes Saudi Arabia Happy 90th National Day)
