Saudi Arabia sets age limit for nitaqat system | Age limit for Nitaqat system: Saudi Arabia revises rules for natives

Riyadh: The government of Saudi Arabia has implemented the reform of the Nitaqat. The Ministry has fixed the limit for the number of employees to be considered for the indigenous ratio in the Nitakhat system. The minimum age for Saudi nationals to register in Nitaqat is 18 years and the maximum age is 60. The ministry has come up with a new definition of the age limit in view of the incidents involving minors and retirees in Nitakhat.

The Nitaqat system is being implemented in Saudi Arabia as part of the repatriation process. The ministry had intervened in the matter after noticing that companies were completing their permissible registration irrespective of age under the Nitakhat system. With this, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has informed that those below 18 years of age and those above 60 years of age will not be considered for the native ratio.

The ministry also recently raised the minimum wage for Saudi nationals covered under the Nitaqat scheme. The minimum wage has been raised from 3,000 riyals to 4,000 riyals.

Institutions and companies in Saudi Arabia have been instructed to implement the pay reform. But Saudi nationals earning less than 4,000 Saudi riyals will not be considered full nationals under the Nitaqat. Those earning between 3,000 riyals and 4,000 riyals will be considered semi-employees. In this case, the salary cap is set.
