Saudi Arabia Launches New Warship ‘Jazan’ in Ceremony in Spain

RIYADH – Government Navy Saudi Arabia officially launched its newest warship named “Jazan” during a launch ceremony at the Navantia Naval Industries Co shipyard in Spain.

Commander of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) Lieutenant General Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Ghufaili delivered a speech expressing his pleasure at the launch of the ship.

“The Sarawat project will contribute to increasing the level of readiness of the RSNF, enhancing maritime security in the region and protecting the Kingdom’s vital strategic interests,” he said.

He added, “In addition, the project ship is an important addition to the RSNF’s ability to protect the Kingdom’s maritime interests and localize a technically advanced military industry.

“The Sarawat project warship is distinguished by having the latest combat systems to deal with all air, surface and subsurface threats, as well as electronic warfare which has more capabilities than many of the world’s navies,” the Saudi Press Agency report said.

“And they are also a great addition to the ability of the Saudi Royal Navy to protect the country’s maritime capabilities and interests,” the Saudi Press Agency report said.
