According to reports, Yermak, director of the Ukrainian President’s Office, said on July 30 that officials from several countries will participate in the Saudi Arabia summit, but he did not disclose when or in which city the meeting will be held.

Yermak posted on the social media Telegram that the summit will discuss the Ukrainian peace plan, which “contains 10 basic points, which will not only ensure peace in Ukraine, but also form a mechanism for the future world to deal with conflicts.”

The Wall Street Journal reported on July 29, citing diplomats attending the meeting, that the summit will be held from August 5 to 6, when senior officials from 30 countries, including Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, Chile and Zambia, will go to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but Russia, which was not invited to the summit, will be excluded.

Ukrainian and Western officials hope that excluding Russia from the talks will spur international support for peace terms favorable to Ukraine.

According to the Associated Press, citing an unnamed official, it is expected that a senior official of US President Joe Biden’s administration will also attend the summit.

It is not clear how many countries have been invited to participate in the meeting, but analysis believes that the countries that participated in the talks on Ukraine in Copenhagen, Denmark in June this year may be invited to participate in the talks in Jeddah again.
