Sarah Michelle Gellar: Unsuccessful career. What’s happening to the “School of Seduction” star?

Before the camera, she made her debut as a 5-year-old in a Burger King commercial. It was the first advertisement for the network to mention by name its biggest competitor – McDonald’s. For years, Gellar has been unwelcome in McDonald’s networks, because in the advertisement it says: “I only eat at Burger King”.

Sarah Michelle Gellar began her acting career as a little girl. Her first success was a role in the series “All my children”. 1997 turned out to be a turning point for her. It was then that she began to play the title role in the popular series “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer” (in May 2003, after the 7th series, she finished work in this title).

In 1997, she also starred in a thriller “Last Summer’s Nightmare” (Blockbuster Award for Best Supporting Actress).

Then she appeared on the set of the movie “School of Seduction”. For this performance, Gellar received two MTV Awards: for Best Actress and for Best Kiss. Roger Kumble’s 1999 film, opposite Gellar Ryan Philipe and Reese Witherspoon, was a modernized version of Dangerous Liaisons.

Roles in the series “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer” and film “School of Seduction” made it Sarah Michelle Gellar she became a coveted star and went (briefly) to the premier league in Hollywood. In 1999, the magazine “FHM” even recognized her as the sexiest woman in the world.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Gellar tried – unfortunately without much success – to develop her career.

She performed, inter alia, in a cartoon adaptation “Scooby-Doo”. The film was crushed by critics, but it turned out to be the biggest box office success in the actress’s career. In 2002, Gellar, together with Jacek Black, hosted the MTV Movie Awards gala, which was watched live by over 7 million viewers. The actress also appeared in the sequel “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed”.

In the following years, Gellar focused on appearing in horror films. In 2004, she starred in the American remake of the Japanese blockbuster “The Grudge – The Curse”two years later, she repeated her role in the sequel “The Grudge – Curse 2”. The actress also has appearances in “Krzyku 2” Wes Craven and horror “Last Summer’s Nightmare”.

In the years 2013-2014, the actress played in the series “Overrated”. She played the daughter of the protagonist played by Robin Williams. Unfortunately, after the first season, it was decided that production would not continue. However, the on-set meeting with Williams made a great impression on Gellar.

“For my children, he was Uncle Robin, for everyone he worked with, he was the best boss imaginable. For me, he was not just an inspiration, but a Father I always dreamed of. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe how enormous he was. for those who have ever had the pleasure to meet him. I will miss him every day, but I know that the memory of him will live forever “- the actress confessed after Williams’ suicide.

In recent years, the actress has appeared in several series, incl. “Body Uneducated”, “Star Wars: Rebels”, “Robot Chicken”, “The Big Bang Theory” (one episode). In 2021, it could be seen in the production of “Rulers of the Universe: Revelation”.

Unfortunately, the actress never managed to repeat the success of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “School of Seduction”. Will Sarah Michelle Gellar ever get a chance to match her talent and manage to create a great cinematic role? We wish her this on the occasion of her 45th birthday!

Privately, Gellar is a happy wife and mother. Her husband since 2002 is Freddy Prinze jr., Also an actor. The couple have two children. Their daughter Charlotte Grace was born on September 19, 2009, and their son Rocky James was born on September 23, 2012.

The actress is active on social media. Her profile on Instagram has 3.8 million followers.
