Santos defeats Portugal in an inspired game by Lucas Lima

Santos thrashed Portuguesa, 4-0, in a game with great performances by Lucas Lima and Marcos Leonardo. The duo, in addition to Stiven Mendoza, had a carnival in Vila Belmiro and technically commanded the team coached by Odair Hellmann in today’s match (19), for the 10th round of Paulistão.

Both Marcos Leonardo and Mendoza scored two goalswhile Lucas Lima distributed assists and was the maestro that the team needs so much.

Lucas Lima was applauded in the second half after directly participating in three goals – he gave the pass to the first two and took a corner that resulted in the fourth.

The result was very good for Santos in terms of positioning in Paulistão. The team reached 13 points in the competition and was even further away from the threat of relegation.

The championship situation

With two rounds to go, Peixe’s situation in terms of classification is still not simple. Third in Group A, the team from Santos has one point less than Red Bull Bragantino (who will still play in this round). The leader is still Botafogo-SP. The top two in the group advance to the quarterfinals.

Santos’ last two games in the Paulistão qualifying phase are against Corinthians, on Sunday, in Vila Belmiro, at 4 pm, and Ituano, on March 5, in Itu.

The life of the Portuguese, on the other hand, is very difficult. Lusa is the team with the worst performance in Paulistão. It’s only six points. If the tournament ended today, the team coached by Gilson Kleina would be relegated.

goals and highlights

Santos resolved the confrontation in the first half. He was fast and opened the scoring with exactly 1 minute and 18 seconds of play. The table between Lucas Lima and Marcos Leonardo resulted in a goal and was a visiting card of what would happen in Vila this Sunday.

The second goal came in the 17th minute, after a defensive blunder by Portuguesa, committed by Marzagão. Angelo was tricky and stole the ball. He quickly triggered Lucas Lima at speed. The midfielder’s advance was intelligent, opening to the left and giving space for the arrival of other players in the central lane. Then the waiter served Marcos Leonardo again.

The third goal, by Mendoza, was another speed move by Peixe. The ball passed through Dodi, Ângelo and Marcos Leonardo before reaching the Colombian, who was back in the starting line-up today.

The scenario for Santos became even easier with the expulsion of Marzagão. Straight red. He elbowed Sandry so hard that the Santos midfielder had to be replaced. According to a spokesperson for Santos, the cut was deep.

Santos’ rout was complete in the second half. Lucas Lima took a corner kick, Eduardo Bauermann deflected it and Mendoza pushed for the goal. Detail: moments before, the defender had saved a ball almost on top of the line. Bauermann started the game on the bench, but replaced Joaquim after the break because the defender had been booked.
