The Sanquin blood bank has a drug ready to make you temporarily immune to the corona virus. This is therefore not a vaccine. Sanquin has been able to develop the drug by using plasma from former corona patients.

According to Sanquin spokesman Marloes Metaal, the blood bank made 8,800 doses from 6,000 kilos of plasma. It still has to be clinically tested, but according to Metaal, the blood bank has already started collecting on a large scale. ‘That takes months. The goal is 30,000 kilos of plasma, but we need donors for that. This form of medicine is also done elsewhere, it is not a new procedure. We have experience with the procedure from other types of diseases: you receive a large dose of antibodies, so that the virus is directly attacked by antibodies. The experience with other medicines is that it can protect for a month or two. ‘
