Comments from head coach Atsushi Ohno

Q: I think the game would have turned out differently if the team had a good transition offense and could have used the defense after that, but what do you think about that?
A: I got into that situation when the offense ended poorly.
If everyone could take shots with a common understanding of the rules for offensive rebounds, I think we would have been able to set up our defense in transition.
In the second quarter, we were only pursuing speed, and we made poor judgment in the second quarter when we could develop our offense at a fast pace and when we needed to stop the ball well and pass the ball patiently.
However, thanks to the fact that we strictly followed the rules we have always been working on regarding rebounding, I think we were able to get more offensive rebounds and had more second-chance points. Masu.
I think they clearly understood that they had to do standard things and then have a game plan that made adjustments to the opponent.

Q: What did you focus on during the bye week in preparation for the second half and CS?
A: I noticed that he seemed to be a little more relaxed, so I was conscious of returning to the starting point.
It was the same in yesterday’s match, but I felt that there was a kind of complacency that prevailed, thinking that the current results were good and that they would be able to make some adjustments without doing the standard things, so I decided to reconsider my base. However, I don’t think the players noticed that it didn’t lead to results.
This season has been a painful losing streak, but I hope it will be a losing streak that will make the players feel that way.

Q: When we were trying to catch up in the 3rd quarter, the boosters were cheering us on, and I think that really gave us strength.
I think there will be home court advantage in CS as well, what do you think?
A: I think the cheering is the amount of expectations we have for ourselves.
Naturally, the less expectations are placed on the team, the less voice the customers have to say, and I think the loudness of their voices reflects what is expected of them.
When you see a strong team, you want them to do even better, so I’m happy to be in a position where they want me to be, and I want to play even better and receive even louder support than the one I’m currently receiving. I think we have to become a group that is desired.

#24 Comment from Takanari Sasaki

I think we played more physically than yesterday’s game.
With Mayten absent, we were unable to control the opponent’s two stable center players, but everyone was able to play with a high awareness of offensive and defensive rebounds.
Although we lost, I think it was a match that will lead us to the next match, so we will do our best as a team in the next match.

Q: I think that advancing to CS and winning the regional championship, which everyone around you is looking forward to, will be a huge experience for you, but what are your thoughts on that?
A: We haven’t decided whether we will participate in the CS yet, and I think this is a period of preparation where we think about what we need to do as individuals and as a team to achieve our goal of winning the championship.
I would like to work towards my goal while keeping the vector towards myself.

Q: Is there anything you learned or absorbed from playing against A-Tokyo in the previous match and Ryukyu in this match, teams who are regular CS players?
A: Ryukyu was last season’s champion, and the whole team was physically active in both games this season, and we need to learn from them. I learned that if you don’t do that, you can’t win.

#8 Comment from Atsuya Ota

Unlike yesterday’s game, the entire team talked about remembering their commitments and basics and carrying out them well before competing, so I think we were able to compete even though some members were in poor condition, and we were able to keep up with the basics. I think it was a great accomplishment to be able to go back and play.
However, if we were satisfied with this, I don’t think we’d be able to hold back or hope for our own growth, so I hope we can step up through team practice and individual workouts to further develop our base.
We lost two games in a row to Ryukyu, so we want to prepare well so that we can repay our debt in our next CS match.

Q: Since the last round, you have continued to play against teams that are regular CS players, but what do you feel are your future challenges?
A: We are a team that lacks experience as we have hardly ever participated in CS, but both A Tokyo and Ryukyu have participated in CS many times and have won championships, so we have plenty of experience. I do not think.
We tried to do our best during the bye week to make up for that, but I think we lacked awareness and our lack of awareness showed in yesterday’s game.
We thought we had improved our quality by repeating countermeasures, but it still wasn’t enough.
However, I am glad that I was able to experience it first-hand at this stage, and I hope that in the future we will be able to practice high quality one by one.
We lost when there was an accident with a foreign player, but in CS, you have to win, so it won’t change even if I participate. In fact, I have to raise my level to a higher level so that I can give myself some rest. I don’t think so.
My current status is not enough, and as long as I’m on the court, age doesn’t matter, so I want to work hard and aim high.

Q: I think the cheering from the boosters gave us strength during today’s difficult moments. A message for all the boosters.
A: The voices of all the boosters will be a tailwind and will make us want to go one step further and do our best, so I would be happy if we could hear more voices.
When the team is in a difficult situation, I hope that if you can give them an encouraging voice, the players will realize that even if it’s just a little chance, it will give them strength.
I would like to create a team called “Phoenix” not only by ourselves but also with all the boosters.
