Sanctions have reached space: Russia refuses international cooperation on the ISS

The head of Roskosmos demands that Western countries lift the sanctions imposed due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

On Saturday, April 2, the head of Roskomos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that Russia would cease cooperation with Western countries on the International Space Station until the sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation were lifted.

About this he wrote on your Twitter.

Rogozin, in his post, argues that the purpose of the sanctions is “to kill the Russian economy and leave our people in despair and hunger, to bring our country to its knees.”

“I believe that the restoration of normal relations between partners on the International Space Station (ISS) and other projects is possible only with the complete and unconditional lifting of illegal sanctions,” he wrote.

Rogozin noted that Roskosmos’ proposals on when exactly to stop cooperation on the ISS with the space agencies of the United States, Canada, the EU and Japan will be reported to the Russian authorities in the near future.

Recall that the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is studying ways to keeping the International Space Station in orbit without Russia’s help.
