In a publication on his official “X” account, the president spoke about the case of María José Iturbide Flores, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, who uses state security and vehicles to protect the life of her daughter.

“I spoke with the Minister of MARN to let her know her mistake in not measuring the care she wanted to give her daughter, using resources that are not for the case. I told him that under no circumstances can this happen again,” Arévalo described.

Days before, Iturbide Flores made a publication on her social networks showing that her daughter had been chased by a motorist, so she did not hesitate to assign security to her, and she also admitted that “at that time there was a bad procedure,” because her reaction “It was immediate.”

“My reaction was to provide temporary security. As Minister of the Environment, I recognize that at that time there was a bad procedure to request the protection of my family, since my reaction was immediate. “I have asked the Ministry of the Interior to carry out a risk and security analysis for my family,” she said.

In that perspective, investigations have emerged that detail that the minister’s daughter takes advantage of traveling in cars to go to gyms, work, travel with her friends, go out with her boyfriend and walk the dogs.

Regarding the above, Arévalo indicated that he informed the Anti-Corruption Commissioner Santiago Palomo so that this case guides the drafting of the new Code of Ethics for officials, so that errors of judgment have no place in the actions of the authorities.
