San Diego deputy sheriff arrested

The sheriff’s investigation leads to an arrest.

A criminal warrant was issued against Deputy Cory Richey on 13 counts of burglary and three counts of possession of a controlled substance. Early this morning, sheriff’s department detectives arrested Richey.

The arrest occurred at around 7:30 this morning when Richey arrived at his workplace. Richey was incarcerated in San Diego Central Jail on the felony warrant shortly before 12:30 p.m. His bail is set at $250,000.

Several search warrants have been executed and an investigation is ongoing.

Richey has been employed by the Sheriff’s Department since March 2007. This case is currently being investigated by the San Diego Sheriff’s Internal Affairs Unit, which will be looking into Richey’s actions. He was suspended without pay by the sheriff’s department.

The arrest occurred at around 7:30 this morning when Richey arrived at his workplace. Richey was incarcerated at San Diego Central Jail on a felony warrant at around 12:30 p.m. His bail is set at $250,000.
