Samsung showcased a variety of its newest screen products at the SID Display Week 2023 event.

As the name suggests, this screen can be rolled up like a piece of paper, with the smallest screen size (when rolled) being around 50 mm (5 cm).

Quoted from kompas.com, when not rolled up, this screen can be stretched to a height or width alias size (depending on screen orientation) of about 250 mm or about 25 cm, five times larger than its smallest size.

That way, users can save space when the screen is not in use by rolling it up, and can enjoy content with satisfaction when the screen is stretched to its maximum size.

Apart from Rollable Flex, Samsung also introduced another type of folding screen called “Flex In & Out”.

As the name implies, this screen can be folded inward and outward, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 folding phone which has a screen with an inward folding mechanism only.

This means that the device that adopts the Flex In & Out screen can be folded 360 degrees, and if this device is folded outwards, the secondary screen that is displayed will come from the front screen.

Samsung doesn’t explain what kind of hinge they use to make this kind of Flex In & Out screen.

However, they claim that this type of screen can make folding phones lighter in weight with thin dimensions.
