There are a number of improvements brought to Galaxy S22 Series, one of which is the camera. Samsung claims that the three newest phones are good at recording videos, both in bright and low light conditions.
Joshua Sungdae Cho, VP and Head of Visual SW R&D at MX Business explained that the Galaxy S22 Series is capable of recording videos clearly and smoothly. They implemented Auto Framrate, this is an AI technology that intuitively adjusts the brightness of the shot by changing the exposure automatically.
“Super Night mode adjusts the frame rate up to 24fps in FHD and uses multi-framing technology to reduce noise,” he said during a group interview with a number of online media recently.
Samsung also applies AI Segmentation in real time to improve video quality. There are three aspects that are applied, namely auto white balance, auto exposure and auto focus.
“We use the NPU to track objects and change these three aspects, all in real time. So users can get quality videos,” said Cho.
On the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung brings Super Steady VDIS to provide stability when recording video. This feature combines hardware and software algorithms.
For hardware, Samsung increased the OIS calibration by 50% from 0.95 degrees to 1.5 degrees, and the gyroscope that previously used 200Hz to 833 Hz.

“By using the Super Steady VDIS solution we were able to reduce camera movement and produce very stable video,” said Cho.
Samsung has also maximized the use of the new sensor in the Galaxy S22 series to display more colors. Most sensors provide 10bit support. This South Korean tech giant combines 10bit HOG and 10bit LOG to produce 12bit real time output.
“Users can enjoy HDR videos with even better detail,” claims Cho.
The Galaxy S22 series is also given the auto framing feature on the front and rear cameras, and can be turned on and off manually. This feature can track up to 10 objects and automatically adjust focus on them. However, the user can lock an object so that the camera’s focus will follow its movement.
