Samsung Expands Global Reach of Mobile AI with Galaxy AI on Previous Models
Samsung Electronics is taking a significant step in the democratization of mobile AI with the announcement of Galaxy AI features becoming available on a wider range of Galaxy devices. Through the newly engineered One UI 6.1 update, users of previous Galaxy models will have access to enhanced AI capabilities, in line with the technology introduced in the recently launched Galaxy S24 series. This update will gradually roll out from the end of March, covering the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and Tab S9 series.

One of the key features of the updated Galaxy AI is enhanced communication capabilities. Users will now have access to a range of AI-powered functions that enable seamless and convenient interaction. Through the Chat Assist feature, users can adjust message tones and instantly translate messages into 13 different languages. The Live Translate feature takes real-time conversations to a new level by providing voice and text translations during phone calls. Additionally, the split-screen Interpreter feature generates text translations, facilitating spontaneous conversations with locals while traveling.
The integration of Galaxy AI into the Galaxy ecosystem unleashes higher levels of productivity and efficiency for AI-supported models. Circle to Search with Google facilitates improved search functions by generating intuitive search results with a simple circle-motioned gesture. Note Assist streamlines organization by allowing users to create formats, generate summaries, and translate notes, while Browsing Assist delivers comprehensive news article summaries, enabling users to stay informed more efficiently. Additionally, Transcript Assist simplifies the transcription and summary generation of meeting recordings.
Creative potential finds unrivaled possibilities with Galaxy AI. The updated Galaxy AI tools empower users to further unleash their artistic expression. Generative Edit allows AI-supported devices to resize, reposition, and realign objects in photos, ensuring users capture the perfect shot. Edit Suggestion optimizes photo enhancement with a one-stop solution, reducing the need for multiple retakes. Meanwhile, Instant Slow-mo generates additional frames for slow-motion videos, capturing action-packed moments seamlessly.
Galaxy users can also enjoy a more personalized experience through AI-generated wallpapers, which transform AI-supported devices into a canvas for users’ creativity and individuality.
