I can better justify the 43 version of Samsung to my other half

Of course I don’t know your living situation, maybe you are relatively close to your TV, or you live in a small house, but… I hear that argument more often, also with friends. Usually the female other half thinks such a “big TV” is a bad idea… For emotional reasons usually.
Until they get used to it.

My girlfriend was also skeptical at first when I ordered the 55″ OLED (we had 42″ plasma). But after a few days she got used to it. And the TV incl bezel isn’t even much bigger than the plasma with huge bezels, and the OLED sits almost flush against the wall. Now when we watch a movie with friends or family, on the way back she regularly says “what a small TV they have, and so far from the wall”
And people who watch TV at our place also regularly say “it’s nice such a large screen, and the size is hardly noticeable so tightly against the wall”.

So if you have the space for it, and the viewing distance is enough, just get the 55″ (or bigger). You might be grumpy for 1 day, but after that she never wants to go back to <48" Trust me.
