Samsung Adds Astrophotography Mode to Camera Raw App for S22 – Tablets & Phones – New

Samsung is adding an astrophotography mode to its Camera Raw app for Galaxy S22 phones. The option allows users to capture planets, stars and constellations with a shutter speed of up to four minutes.

The Expert Raw app has built-in software to compensate for the movement of celestial bodies, says Samsung. Through pattern recognition, the software tries to recognize the various elements, such as constellations and planets, in the frame and to adapt to them. The interface also has an astronomical guide to highlight constellations and planets.

Astro mode is not available in the regular camera app. Users need Expert Raw, which can be found in the Galaxy Store. The feature is only in the beta version for now and requires Android 13 on a Galaxy S22.

In addition to the astrophotography mode, Camera Assistant will also arrive on the app. It can turn various features on and off, such as Auto HDR, auto switching between cameras, and applying faster shutter speeds. There will also be an option not to automatically soften photos. It is unknown if the new Camera Raw features will also arrive on previous Galaxy phones.
