We still can’t get the most advanced scientific instruments to Mars. If we really want to study the history of the red planet in detail, then it is necessary to transport scientifically interesting samples from Mars to Earth. But this is not an easy task at all – that is why the NASA and ESA agencies are working together to implement it. It will be a unique chain of missions that will pass samples to each other like a relay leg when a container of valuable material reaches Earth around 2033.
