Samantha Steenwijk proved why tonight Secret duets would do well to activate a voice changer with some secret singing partners. Upon hearing the real voice, she guessed who she was within seven seconds (!) while the rest of the panel had no idea. “Yes, of course!”
In RTL 4’s singing show, famous artists duet with someone they can’t see. Using voice and a few hints, they have to guess who is on the other side of a thick wall. It can be a professional singer, but also a celebrity who can’t sing.
In rare cases, manufacturers also use a distorter. It happens when they fear the voice is too recognizable, presenter Jamai Loman said recently Hans de Booij participated. Tonight it happened for the second time, when rapper Donnie kicked off the show with his duet.
The judging panel of riddles – tonight consisting of Eva Simons, Frans Bauer, Samantha and Donnie – could do little with the clues from the hint video. There was a can of black paint. The black paint turned out to refer to Swart, the secret singer’s real last name. Heart pillow with arms had to do with Put your arm around me, a hit by the artist from 1983. You use marbles when playing outdoors, something the singer was once invited to in a song. And anyone who lands a “sickly” coup, of course calls the doctor, in this case Dr. Bernhard from the 1976 coup. Bonnie St. Claire (73) was behind the wall.
,,No, no, no”, just shouted Eva, who in the end had put her money on Corry Konings. Frans Bauer didn’t even dare to say what he had entered. The “sick shot” reminded him of the song OmeJan by Willeke Alberti, in which the subject cannot be saved by a doctor. Thus wrote Alberti. ,, I’m completely stunned, completely freaked out,” he said.
Bonje Cornelia Swart, as Bonnie is really called, has been in the business for 56 years and enjoyed several successes in the 70s and 80s. In recent years she has struggled with an addiction to alcohol, but nowadays she is sober and has a different attitude towards life. She feels like she’s just getting started, she told our magazine Half.
