Football champions Red Bull Salzburg have not given up hope before the Europa League sixteen-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Frankfurt failed the dress rehearsal on Monday evening with a 1: 2 at home against Union Berlin. However, the German league table eleven appear on Thursday (9:00 p.m. / live DAZN) with a 4: 1 cushion from the first leg in Salzburg.
The late away goal in Frankfurt with a penalty from Hwang Hee-chan gives the bulls hope. “We will leave no stone unturned to come back into the game,” said Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch. “Our goal is to put pressure on from the start. And maybe we can score a quick goal.”
–
It could shoot Patson Daka. The 21-year-old from Zambia scored his league goals number 15 and 16 at Wiener Austria (2: 2) on Sunday. “We want to play against Frankfurt from the start with intense determination to score a quick goal,” said Daka. Hwang and Daka seem set in the Salzburg attack. There are a few positions behind.
–
Midfielder Enock Mwepu could move to the right wing and replace Patrick Farkas as representative of the injured Rasmus Kristensen. An option in the center is Dominik Szoboszlai. However, the Hungarian has never played in any of the four competitive games this year. Antoine Bernede is available again after his tibia fracture. The Frenchman doesn’t seem to be an issue for the starting line-up yet.
–
The Red Bull Arena has been sold out for weeks with 29,000 spectators. The away sector holds 1,500 people. However, more than twice as many Frankfurt fans are likely to travel to Salzburg. The otherwise unloved Eintracht supporters had confirmed the unpopular league date on Monday evening with a mood boycott.
–
The Frankfurter against Union Berlin matched the atmosphere. Coach Adi Hütter was served after the second league defeat in a row. His team’s performances alternate too suddenly. “We are not as far as I imagine,” said the Vorarlberg. “The defeat is very bitter and bothers me a lot.”
–
Again after a highlight like in the first leg against Salzburg there was a low blow against a supposedly beatable league opponent. Frankfurt already lacks eight points on a European Cup place. If it is not possible to catch up, Eintracht would have to win the title in the Europa League or DFB Cup in order to continue to be represented internationally next year.
–
Last year Hütter and his team reached the Europa League semi-finals. The thirst for further European nights in Frankfurt is great. The guest performance in Salzburg seems to be groundbreaking. “Thursday is again European Cup day, we have to get this 4: 1 over the laps,” emphasized Hütter after the home defeat against Union Union. “If we play like we did in the first half, it will be very difficult in Salzburg.”
