On the other hand, compared to the previous month – May – the sales volume of medicines decreased by 1.8%.
In June 2022, drug wholesalers in Latvia sold a total of 3.81 million packages of medicines.
The data of the State Medicines Agency also show that 3.48 million packages of medicines worth 31.88 million euros were sold to general pharmacies in June.
In June, 445 medicines of different names from the Latvian Medicines Register were sold outside Latvia for EUR 9.07 million, which is 15% more than in May, including 257 medicines from the list of reimbursable medicines.
The average wholesale price of one package of medicines in June was 9.77 euros, while the median price was 5.43 euros without VAT, including 5.28 euros for medicines included in the Latvian Medicines Register, and 15.44 euros for unregistered medicines.
Drug manufacturers and their representatives declared price increases for 108 drugs in June, while price reductions were declared for 18 drugs. As the reason for the price increase, the owners of the registration certificates mainly cited the increase in raw materials, electricity, transport and other costs.
The data was collected from 83 licensed drug wholesalers operating in Latvia.
In the calculations on the consumption of medicines in Latvia, the data on the sales of medicines from one medicine wholesaler to another medicine wholesaler are not taken into account.
