Sale of beer brand Bud also goes on ice with Russians | Financial

AB InBev just doesn’t brew its Bud beer in Russia itself. To this end, the company works together with the Turkish Anadolu Efes in a so-called joint venture. That party has been asked to cease production and sales of Bud in Russia.

The AB InBev-Efes partnership has eleven breweries in Russia, which employ 3500 people, and three in Ukraine with 1800 employees. AB InBev has announced that the staff will be paid as usual in the near future.

The brewer added that it also cooperates with the Red Cross and local aid organizations with regard to the conflict in Ukraine. This would help provide food, blankets, medical supplies and drinking water in the war zone and to refugees in the region.

There are currently ongoing announcements from companies with steps to boycott Russia. On Friday, for example, food group Nestlé announced that it would no longer supply certain products to the Russian market for the time being.

This concerns the export of items that are labeled as non-essential, including Nespresso coffee and San Pellegrino water. The Swiss company will still provide Russia with, for example, baby food, breakfast cereals and special pet food.
