The Saints announced this Friday through their social networks that Sean Payton had tested positive for COVID this Friday and that he was now in quarantine.
Having missed Wednesday’s training because he felt bad, he had tested negative at that time and had dictated his instructions to the players at a distance.
Dennis Allen will take over in Payton’s absence. The Saints defensive coordinator had coached the Raiders for two seasons.
New Orleans will play Tampa overnight Sunday through Monday. As for Payton, he could return to the bench for the game against the Dolphins on December 27.
