The latest update for Saints Row, the “Sunshine Springs” expansion, is set to release on May 9th. Developed by Volition under the Gearbox umbrella, this update promises many quality-of-life improvements, a new district to explore, and a combat overhaul. The Sunshine Springs district is a sprawling resort area, the first map expansion introduced to Saints Row. The combat changes seem to be the most impactful, with enemies’ health significantly reduced and aim and engagement improvements increasing the pace of combat and reducing ammo starvation. The improvements also include enemies no longer waiting to attack players one at a time, animations and sound designs that make weapons feel more impactful, and the removal of damage immunity from enemies when they dodge. Although Alice B had some critical thoughts on Saints Row’s lack of a distinct identity and impact, loyal fans are excited for the game’s support for the long-term.
