While Saint-Raphaël dominated Nancy (27-32) and temporarily returned to the top of the Liqui Moly Starligue, Toulouse and Istres signed their first success of the season.
After three straight setbacks, Toulouse is finally launching its season. On the occasion of its trip to Chartres, the Fenix went for a short but precious victory. A match that Fredric Petterson’s teammates (3 goals on 4 shots) started off very well, leading by five goals after eight minutes. However, by dint of patience and thanks to Vanja Ilic (8 goals out of 10 shots), the Chartrains erased this missed start by equalizing just over a minute from the break. However, Maxime Gilbert (3 goals on 5 shots) put the Fenix in front at the very end of the first act. It was 20 minutes from the end of the meeting that the Toulouse team made the effort propelling them to victory. A 4-0 gave the teammates of Uros Borzas (8 goals on 12 shots) a sufficient mattress to win by two lengths (31-33).
Istres brings victory back to Limoges
For Limoges, the start of the season turns into an ordeal. The Limougeauds conceded against Istres their third setback in four days and saw their opponents of the day move ahead in the standings. If the two teams held each other in respect during the first eight minutes, the Istreans then took the ascendancy thanks to Jakob Mikkelsen (7 goals on 10 shots) to have four lengths ahead of the quarter of an hour of play. a burst of pride from Dragan Gajic (9 goals on 10 shots) and Hichem Daoud (3 goals on 3 shots) brought Limoges to two lengths at half-time. The start of the second act allowed the Limougeauds to come back up to speed but it was at the edge of the last quarter of an hour that the Provençaux accelerated with a 5-0 which changed the situation. Andrea Parisini’s teammates (8 goals on 8 shots) then managed the end of the match perfectly to win by three lengths (34-37).
Saint-Raphaël temporarily takes the lead
As on the 3rd day, Saint-Raphaël took advantage of opening the day to settle at the top of the standings. The Var have taken the best of the promoted Nancy. Luka Groff’s teammates (8 goals on 14 shots) nevertheless took the lead at the start of the match. The Raphaëlois were able to count on Alexandre Demaille (15 saves at 37% efficiency) in order to take the advantage on the scoreboard but the gap was only one length at half-time. It was finally through wear and tear that Raphaël Caucheteux’s teammates (9 goals on 9 shots) gradually broke away for a victory of five goals (27-32). A success which is their third in a row and which allows them to point to first place before the matches of PSG and Nîmes. For Nancy, the thinning born of success in Toulouse did not last very long.
