Saint-Gaudin Association LGBT+ Accept Visits Schools for Diversity Week

As part of the diversity weeks, the Saint-Gaudin association LGBT + Accept visited the Edmond Rostand high school and the Jean Monnet college.

In the morning, the college students attended the screening of the documentary film by Hakim Atoui and Baptiste Etchegaray, “La première marche”. The high school students were able to meet Brahim Naït-Balk, the author of the book “A homo in the city”, during the performance of the play “La Hchouma”, inspired by Brahim Naït-Balk’s book, staged by Yann Dacosta and played by Majid Chikh-Miloud and Ahmed Kadri.

“I liked it a lot. It made everyone think, even those who had different opinions. These are boys who have experienced homophobia and are talking about it. The play is touching,” says Liam, 15.

An exhibition on homosexual people deported during the Second World War and prevention stands have also been set up in the courtyard of the establishment.

Parents of students shared their concerns about the topics discussed. The plan for a Pride march has been abandoned. “I tried to reassure the parents together with Accept. This is an educational project, not a promotion of all these sexualities”, explains Romain Daujam, headmaster of the establishment. “This is the first time that we are carrying out this action. We will take stock to see if we can sustain this event”.
