Days after the start of his hunger strike, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan contract Muammar Gaddafi, confirmed that the health condition of his brother Hannibal, who has been detained in Lebanon for years, is very serious – especially since he suffers from several diseases and needs health care, and he stopped taking medicine in protest of his detention. .

Gaddafi stressed in a press statement today, Saturday, that the detention of his brother is illegal and inhumane, especially since he is being detained without trial and without right.

He was a year old!

It was also surprising that he was accused of concealing and concealing information related to the fate of Imam Musa al-Sadr, the Lebanese cleric, while he was only one year old at the time of al-Sadr’s disappearance.

Hannibal’s health deteriorated, three days after he entered last Saturday (June 3, 2023) on a hunger strike to protest his detention without trial.

While his lawyer, Paul Romans, confirmed in contact with Al-Arabiya / Al-Hadath that he was suffering from stomach pain and difficulty in movement even before his hunger strike.

Kidnapped from Syria

It is noteworthy that Hannibal, who is married to a Lebanese woman and has been arrested in Lebanon since 2015, was kidnapped by Lebanese militants from Syria, where he was residing as a political refugee, demanding information about the fate of the famous Shiite cleric who went missing in Libya in 1978, that is, 45 years ago.

The preacher’s family believes that he may still be alive in a Libyan prison, although most Lebanese assume that he has died, especially since if Al-Sadr was alive now, he would have been 94 years old.

without settling

While the Lebanese judiciary charges the Libyan detainee with “concealing information related to the fate of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoub and journalist Abbas Badr al-Din, who went missing in Tripoli in 1978, after their arrival at the invitation of Muammar Gaddafi, and participating in the crime of hiding them.”

The file of Gaddafi’s son is still without a judicial settlement, despite the attempts of several Libyan parties to intervene in order to obtain his release, and despite the negotiations that took place between his defense team and the committee in charge of the al-Sadr case.

While Hannibal still maintains his innocence in that case, stressing that he does not have any information because the incident occurred when he was a child, and that only his older brother Saif al-Islam and former Prime Minister Abd al-Salam Jalloud know about his disappearance, along with his father’s relative, Ahmed Qaddaf al-Dam, who resides in Cairo. and former Foreign Minister Musa Koussa.
