For his first official trip to Bourges (Cher) since he became, on January 1, the majority shareholder of the National 2 club, a whole city pulled out all the stops this Saturday. Arriving by private jet at midday, the warm welcome received by the Senegalese international on the tarmac was just a preview of what awaited him during a day where he was at the center of all attentions.

Received as it should be by the town hall and its councilor Yann Galut, the former Liverpool and Bayern player – who now plays for the Saudi club Al-Nassr with Cristiano Ronaldo – then went to meet the young people of Bourges Foot 18. All smiles and in a warm atmosphere, Mané took the time to send a little word to all those who came to meet him.
For his first trip as majority shareholder of the club, he then had the honor of kicking off the match between Bourges and Avoine-Chinon at the Jacques-Rimbault stadium at 6 p.m., counting for the 19th day of the National 2 championship. And it seems to have brought luck to “his” players since the locals won 1-0.
At the end of October, the center forward surprised everyone by explaining that he became the owner of the Berruyer club to develop a real long-term sporting and societal project. His entourage put him in touch, in 2020, with his compatriot Cheikh Sylla, the president of the club, very involved in Senegal.
“We have worked with the town hall for three years (…) The challenge is enormous and if the population of Bourges remains concerned I am sure that we will be able to achieve it,” explained Sadio Mané, promising to “come soon” on place.
