Sad News, Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Died

KUWAIT, KOMPAS.com – Leaders and order Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, died at the age of 91 on Tuesday (29/9/2020).

The news of grief was expressed by the Minister of the Royal Court, Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al Sabah, through a state-owned television channel.

Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah will be appointed as order new Kuwait on Wednesday (30/9/2020).

Sheikh Sabah died in a hospital in United States of America ( AS) on Tuesday local time as quoted from Eurasia Review.

In July, Sheikh Sabah was admitted to a hospital in Kuwait and underwent surgery before being referred to the US for further treatment.

His death brought sadness and condolences to the region Arabian Gulf and surrounding.

Before becoming Emir Kuwait, he served as Kuwaiti Foreign Minister for four decades since 1963 having held a number of other government posts.

Sheikh Sabah later became the Prime Minister of Kuwait in 2003. After that, he ruled Kuwait since 2006.

Kuwait announced 40 days of mourning to commemorate the Sheikh of Sabah.

Leaders are widely respected for their leadership, outstanding diplomats, and as mediators in the region.

He helped steer the country against invasion Iraq in 1990 and a number of other crises in the region.

Raja Saudi Arabia Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman were among the area leaders who extended their condolences to Kuwait and the family of Sheikh Sabah.

The Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres said Sheikh Sabah was a symbol of extraordinary wisdom and generosity, a messenger of peace, a bridge builder.

US President Donald Trump this month awarded the US Legion of Merit, the title of Supreme Commander, to the Sheikh of Sabah.
