At least half of the twenty fellow candidates see how nervous Huisman is at the round table. He looks around with wide eyes. “He is a thousand percent a traitor, he was so nervous, not normal,” says hockey player Noor Omrani. “He had such caps, as if he had been to a festival,” radio DJ Giorgio Hokstam also agrees. His brother and Kriss-Kross other half Jordy Huisman, who also participates in the game, also have doubts: “I think I would see Sander if he is lying, but I also think that he is the best liar of the two of us.”
In the psychological cunning and deceit game, a group of well-known Dutch people compete for a silver treasure of up to forty kilos. Among them are three traitors who want to keep the loot for themselves and are allowed to kill a so-called ‘faithful’ every night, after a secret deliberation in the castle turret.
Throw in front of the bus
In addition to Sander Huisman, opera singer Maria Fiselier also became known on Friday evening Dear Singers, and artist Katinka ‘Tinkebell’ Simonse has been identified as an impostor. It soon became clear that the female traitors were fed up with their weak ally. Fiselier: ,,Kak, because of him we are a few points behind. Simonse went one step further. She will not hesitate to throw both her allies under the bus. “I am a master traitor. That pile of silver will be mine soon,” she said firmly. “My fellow traitors think we are equal, that we are doing this together, but of course we are not. Ultimately, the idea is that I will betray my fellow traitors.”
Although half the group suspects Sander Huisman as a traitor, he thought he was safe. “I feel like a fish in water,” he told presenter Tijl Beckand. “No one suspects me.”
New: the death list
The new season, set in the French castle De Beguin in Lurcy Levis, 300 kilometers south of Paris, had another twist in store. The three traitors were not allowed to kill a fellow candidate on the first night. They had to draw up a kill list, a new element in the TV game, the consequences of which are still unclear. The final will also be different than before. From now on, faithfuls can only win the silver treasure if they have played all traitors home.
According to presenter Tijl Beckand, the participants are more tactical than ever. Day and night they try to expose each other, he told this site. “The participants sometimes behave just like prisoners. They agree codes with each other, for example ‘turn off the light in your room at 9 pm, then I know that you are a faithful one’.” The group is also more ruthless, he believes. “As soon as they set foot over the threshold of the castle, they turn into a pack of hungry wolves.”
