After a late 1-0 (0-0) win at VfB Oldenburg, 1. FC Saarbrücken remains in the promotion race of the 3rd football league. Marvin Cuni scored a penalty kick in the 85th minute on Sunday for the Saarlanders to succeed. With three games left to play in fifth place in the table with 62 points, they are just one point behind a direct promotion spot.

In the game at Table-18 threatened with relegation. Coach Rüdiger Ziehl’s team found it extremely difficult and was able to thank goalkeeper Daniel Batz in the first half for not falling behind. The goalkeeper parried a shot from Oldenburg’s Patricks Hasenhüttl brilliantly after half an hour.
When the guests seemed to be running out of time, a penalty brought the decision. Substitute Kasim Rabihic was brought down by Ayodele Adetula in the penalty area, but Cuni kept his nerve and converted safely. FCS will welcome Halleschen FC next Saturday.
