Ryszard Terlecki comments on the survey results – Presidential election 2020

It could have been better, it could have been like according to polls in Podkarpacie. I think it will be like this all over Poland after the second round, but today we still have to wait for it – said PiS club head, Sejm Deputy Marshal Ryszard Terlecki after announcing the results of the exit poll. He added that he was an optimist before the second round. – I see how people react in the streets, how they react at markets, in squares – he said. He also commented on the absence of Jarosław Kaczyński at Andrzej Duda’s election evening.

According to the late poll survey conducted by Ipsos, incumbent president Andrzej Duda gained 42.5 percent support. Rafał Trzaskowski, a candidate of the Civic Coalition, came second with the support of 30.3 percent of respondents. The podium closes – according to the Ipsos survey – the independent candidate Szymon Hołownia, who scored 13.5 percent.

“Could be better”

TVN’s “Fact” journalist Jakub Sobieniowski talked to Andrzej Duda’s electoral staff with Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, head of the Law and Justice parliamentary club Ryszard Terlecki. – It could have been better, it could have been like according to surveys in Podkarpacie. I think it will be like this all over Poland after the second round, but today we still have to wait for it and we still have to work hard for it, first of all our candidate, i.e. President Andrzej Duda – said Terlecki.

In Podkarpackie Voivodship – according to the survey results – 61.6 percent voted for Andrzej Duda.

According to the poll, none of the candidates won more than 50 percent support. This means that – if these results are confirmed – to choose a president a second round will be needed on July 12. Andrzej Duda and Rafał Trzaskowski will compete in it.

Andrzej Duda will now have to convince the voters of his opponents to vote for him, including those of Krzysztof Bosak. Ryszard Terlecki, when asked what he would say to Krzysztof Bosak if he met him now, replied that he would have told him what the president had said during his speech after the announcement of the results.

– In many matters concerning Poland, how Poland should be represented, how Polish interests should be conducted we did not share much and share with Mr. Krzysztof Bosak, in many matters we think similarly – Andrzej Duda argued.

According to Terlecki, PiS also has “very many common values” with the Confederation’s candidate. – We have a lot in common. Of course, we are also a lot apart, but now that we are facing the choice of what Poland is to be and whether we allow ourselves to waste Poland, I think that both Mr. Bosak and his constituents will follow the voice of reason and such patriotic calling and will vote to Andrzej Duda – said Terlecki.

He also referred to the result of PSL candidate Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who obtained 2.6 percent. – It is a pity that PSL has such a poor result. I will say this at my own request. We could settle it in May, we would have it behind us. PSL and Mr. Kosiniak-Kamysz had a good result at the time, they did not want to wait. They waited, they have a very poor result. It’s hard, you pay so much for mistakes – he commented.

“I know where Jarosław Kaczyński is”

Jakub Sobieniowski pointed out that he did not see in the staff of Andrzej Duda the PiS president Jaroslaw Kaczyński. – I know where Jarosław Kaczyński is, but not at the moment. You will probably know tomorrow – answered Terlecki.

The head of the PiS club admitted that he was optimistic before the second round of elections. – I see how people react on the streets, how they react at fairs, in squares where we distribute electoral materials. I think this second round will be a definite victory for Andrzej Duda – he concluded.
